Alan Berube


Alan Berube is a senior fellow and deputy director at the Metropolitan Policy Program at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. He oversees and amplifies the work of a team of experts focused on strategies and policies to build more inclusive and resilient city and metropolitan economies. Their work ranges from issues of innovation and economic development, to workforce training and the labor market, to infrastructure and design of the built environment. Recently, Alan has worked with Louisville organizations on creating a viable and equitable niche for the city in the growing data economy. Alan joined Brookings Metro in 2001 after serving as a community development policy advisor at the U.S. Treasury Department. He holds a master’s degree in public policy from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Stanford University.
